About

Independent Sub-Zero service for St. Johns County

The part comes out of the van only after the sequence has said which part it is.

Crosswater Appliance Service is an independent repair company working on Sub-Zero refrigeration, wine storage and undercounter units across Nocatee and St. Johns County. We do not service other brands, and we are not a heating or air-conditioning company: cold cabinets in kitchens, not furnaces, air handlers or ductwork.

Why one brand

Sub-Zero refrigeration is a narrow, deep speciality. Stocking the parts, learning the service positions and knowing the order this equipment fails in is what lets a technician arrive with the revision of the part the serial number calls for. We do not service other brands, and we say so rather than letting you find out at the door.

What we are not

A refrigeration company, not a climate-control one. We do not install or repair heating, air conditioning, heat pumps, air handlers or ductwork, and we are not a plumbing or electrical contractor. If the call is about the temperature of a room rather than the temperature of a cabinet, we are the wrong company and will say so on the phone.

It is worth saying outright because the two trades share a vocabulary. A sealed system has a compressor, a condenser and an evaporator, and so does the machine cooling the house — but the one we open is the size of a kitchen cabinet, it is opened under EPA Section 608 for a few ounces of refrigerant, and the work ends at the cabinet door. If what has failed is the comfort of a room, a thermostat on a wall or an air handler in a garage, that is a different licence and a different company.

Why the order is published

Because it is the part of a repair you cannot see and cannot check. Anyone can say they are thorough. Publishing the 6 stages, in the order they are run, means you can ask at the door which stage we are on and what the last one ruled out — and it means we cannot quietly start at the expensive end on a slow week.

The order also reflects where the faults actually are in this part of Florida. Condensers work against high ambient heat for eight months of the year, doors carry custom panels and a great deal of humidity, and around 68 thunderstorm days a year — plus the multi-day outages that came with Matthew in 2016, Irma in 2017 and Helene in 2024 — put a load on control electronics that the mechanical refrigeration never feels.

Credentials

  • EPA Section 608 certified technicians — required to open, recover from and recharge a sealed refrigeration system.
  • Licensed and insured for work in St. Johns and Duval counties.
  • Genuine OEM parts only.

The affiliation statement is printed in full in the footer of every page on this site.

Practically, that means three things. We buy parts on the open market rather than through a manufacturer channel, so we say what we warrant ourselves. We publish our price before you call rather than quoting on the doorstep. And we answer to you, which is why the estimate arrives in writing before a part is ordered.

Asked about the company

Is Crosswater Appliance Service part of the Sub-Zero service network?

No. This is an independent repair company holding no appointment from Sub-Zero or its parent. The manufacturer name is used here only to identify the appliances we repair, and the full affiliation statement is printed in the footer of every page.

What certification does the company actually hold?

EPA Section 608 certified technicians — required to open, recover from and recharge a sealed refrigeration system. That is the only certification claimed anywhere on this site. No training credential from a manufacturer is claimed and no appointment from one is held, so none is advertised.
