Warranty

90 days on labor, 365 days on parts, genuine OEM parts.

A clean replacement fan motor held up next to the dust-caked motor that came out of the machine.
What is covered afterwards is the part in the left hand, and the labour that fitted it.

The two periods

90 days on labor. If the fault we repaired returns within 90 days of the visit, we come back and there is no second $80 and no labor charge.

365 days on parts. A part we supplied and fitted is covered for 365 days from the date of the repair. Genuine OEM parts. We do not fit aftermarket substitutes into sealed systems or into any assembly where the original tolerance matters, which on this equipment is most of them.

What it covers

  • The specific fault named on your written estimate and invoice.
  • The part we supplied for that fault, including a second visit to replace it.
  • Our labor in diagnosing that the same fault has recurred.

What it does not cover

It is a warranty on a repair, not a service contract on the appliance. A different component failing later is a new job, diagnosed at the usual $80. So is any of the following.

  • Cleaning and maintenance work. Where the fix was a clean rather than a replacement — a condenser cleared, an ice mold cleaned, a drain path flushed — the appliance is returned to working condition, not given a new service life. Maintenance has an interval, and the estimate names it before you approve the work rather than after you call back.
  • Adjustments that later move again. A door aligned, a closer reset or a drawer levelled is covered against the same fault returning, but not against a new panel, a new floor covering or a cabinet refit shifting the geometry afterwards.
  • Filters and consumables. A cartridge is rated in gallons, not in months, and it is a wear item. Replacing one is maintenance at any interval.
  • Damage from a surge, a flood, a power loss, or work carried out on the appliance by someone else after our visit.
  • Pre-existing conditions we identified in writing and you chose not to have repaired.

How to claim

Call the number on this site, say the appliance is back on the same fault, and give us the date of the original visit. Keep the invoice — it names the fault and the part, and those two lines are the whole claim. There is no form, no portal, and no registration step.

Who is warranting the work

We are. This warranty is ours, given by an independent repair company on the labor and parts we supplied. It is not a manufacturer warranty and it does not extend, replace or interact with any coverage Sub-Zero may provide on the appliance itself.

EPA Section 608 certified technicians — required to open, recover from and recharge a sealed refrigeration system.

What it costs

What does a repair under this warranty cost?

$80 flat to diagnose, credited toward the repair once you approve it. Completed work on this page has landed between $240 and $650, parts and labor together. The firm figure is written down after the diagnosis, not before it.

Typical completed-repair ranges, parts and labor, excluding the diagnostic
Repair Typical range
Diagnostic visit, credited toward the repair $80
Door gasket or seal replacement $250–$590
Evaporator or condenser fan motor $260–$570
Defrost heater, thermostat or sensor $250–$590
Ice maker, water valve or supply line $240–$650

Ranges are what this work has cost, not a quote. A range moves with the part version the serial number calls for and with what the cabinet turns out to need. The whole table is on the pricing page.

Asked about the cover

How much does the repair this warranty covers cost?

$80 flat to diagnose, credited toward the work. Completed repairs in this category have run $240 to $650, parts and labor together. The band your cabinet lands in is written into the estimate before anything is ordered.

When is the cabinet not worth repairing?

When the part is discontinued, when the lead time is longer than you can live with, or when the figure is a large fraction of a replacement. A sealed-system repair runs $910–$2,270, and the estimate says plainly when that is the wrong side of the comparison.

Is the $80 charged on top of the repair?

No. Credited toward the repair if you go ahead with the work. It covers the visit and all 6 stages, whichever stage the fault turns out to sit at, and there is no separate call-out charge and no hourly rate running beside it.
